How long have you been doing what you do, and how did you become a weight loss mentor for women entrepreneurs and other creative professionals?
To answer this question, I will share with you my ‘OMG – what the hell is happening to my body moment’ – that lead to mentoring women just like you on exactly what to do to stop hiding their greatness behind the weight. It happened 4 years ago when I realized I had suddenly gained an astronomical amount of weight in less than two months.
The realization hit me while I was attending a live video marketing event. I looked in the mirror, and thought to myself, “Wow, I look pregnant, I must be bloated from all this hotel food!” It wasn’t until weeks later that I got on the scale in my mother’s laundry room and realized that I had in fact, gained 21 lbs in less than 2 months!
Interesting isn’t it how sometimes when we do something to up level our lives, our subconscious mind also tries to sabotage our efforts.
I had a sneaking suspicion that the extra weight came just in time to keep me from doing all the scary uncomfortable stuff in my business, like getting on stage, recording videos and getting in front of the camera for a photo shoot – stuff my intuition told me were important next steps in my business.
That was exactly the time that my inner ‘gremlins’ got together and thought up a plan to keep me from stepping into the spotlight of my own life “….hmmm” they said, “What can we do to protect Sherry from taking risks and making changes? oh, oh” said one of them, “I know, if we make her fat, she’ll be too afraid to leave the house, never mind doing all that getting in front of an audience stuff. She’ll be way too ashamed and embarrassed to do any of that. Yeah, that’s what will work to keep her in neutral!”
And you know what? It did to a point. It didn’t stop me entirely, but it certainly did slow me down!
I found myself doing the following things to hide the fact that I was fat:
1) avoiding being seen in public
2) angling my camera to make myself look thinner!
3) postponing opportunities
4) and worst of all I was mentally putting my success far away into the future – for ‘someday’ when I became thin
Eventually though, I figured out how to not only let the weight go, but how to transform my business and life in the process!
So how did a whole foods eating hippy health nut become obese in the first place?
Not kidding you. At 176 lbs on my 5’ 3 3/4 frame I was considered obese by the BMI scale. I had to take a really good look at what was happening in my life to figure out that I had triggered hormonal weight gain due to stress.
Being a mom and wife in a marriage that was lacking connection and support, and all of the disappointment that came along with it had taken it’s toll on my spirit.
To cope I turned to my work-a-holism. I found solace in the creativity of it and significance in serving others.
While I was working my ass off 24/7 day and night, seeing clients, teaching classes, driving my kids to school and back, making meals and lunches (from scratch), running online launches, doing laundry and all the housecleaning chores – without any help – my then husband would come home from work, take a nap, wake back up, get stoned and disconnect from the whole family while hiding away in our bedroom scrolling his tablet for hours under the guise of doing art – leaving me to do all of the so called woman’s work and childcare – and meanwhile letting the yard work and garbage pile up around us all.
While I had been shrinking my soul to fit my husband’s limited view of the world, my body was growing in size to scream out it’s discontent.
I finally had the courage to stop fighting to save the relationship when I realized that not only were things never going to change, but that they were just going to get worse. He told me he would only go to marriage counselling if I took the kids out of private school, stopped buying organic food and quit what I do.
What the? Hell no! Ain’t nobody going to tell me to lower my standards in life or convince me to get off my life path, bury my talents and lay my purpose in life to waste in the name of love – because honey, that ain’t love!
That is where I drew the line.
And it renewed my passion for helping women succeed in a whole new way.
It boils my blood to think of how many women are stuck in disempowering relationships. When I told myself the truth….a couple months before our first serious divorce conversation…..I had done a coaching exercise on myself to come to the clear realization that I was settling because of the fear of not being able to take care of myself and my two children financially.
I finally admitted to myself that although I was still in love with him, I couldn’t live with him and I sure as hell was not going to lower my standards any longer.
I had to take my life into my own hands – and I am here to help you do the same.

What makes you different from other weight loss mentors?
What separates me from other weight loss mentors is that I’ve been in your shoes – I am not one of those make it look easy fitness junkies or ‘always been skinny chicks’ who can’t figure out why you can’t stick with counting calories or an exercise routine. I can’t be bothered to count anything and I would much rather ‘work’ than work out!
The hardest part of being obese was that, as a holistic nutritionist people expected me to be a pillar of health, not walking around wearing a health issue for all the world too see!
It took me quite some time to figure out how on God’s Green Earth I could have gained so much weight – even though my diet hadn’t changed – but I did eventually figure it out – and I can’t wait to show you how you can too!

For what type of people are your programs NOT going to work?
I am very selective in who I work with. I cherry-pick my clients, choosing to (gently) turn away people who aren’t suited for my programs and based on their hesitation or lack of committment won’t get the results (it wouldn’t be fair to them).
I won’t work with whiners or complainers, as well as individuals who consistently make excuses for not doing the work or challenging every aspect of the program.
I want my clients to get results and the only way that is going to happen is if you follow the program with close attention to detail.

Step 1 – Diet
When it comes to losing the physical weight, diet is more important than exercise and the quality of the food you eat is more important than the quantity. How quickly can I expect results?
You can easily lose 15 lbs in the first 3 weeks if you follow the program impeccably. It also depends on how damaged your metabolism is and how much you have to lose in the first place. While we all want the quickest results possible, the most important thing is that you keep losing consistently and permanently. I will be by your side to help you if you hit a plateau.
